Internet explorer 8 problem
I am having trouble when I use the pick team link. It is
displaying an error stating
that I am not using the latest version of Internet explorer 8
(IE8). So when I follow
the link to the IE8 website it states that I am using the latest
version so I presume
this is a problem with Clubhouse and not my browser. Any help
appreciated.
Kind Regards
Andy

Andy,
I've double checked and tested this logic in IE8 and Clubhouse lets me see the pick team page. Can you just double check the version of IE your using by clicking on help tab and then about IE when your in your browser? Just in case for some reason the IE site has got confused and thinks your using a later browser than you actually are.
Cheers,
Dan

Hi Dan,
I've got the same problem as Andy.
I use 3 computers to manage our club on clubhouse and on two of them I upgraded from IE 7 to IE 8 and they worked ok. However on the third I also upgraded and from IE 7 to IE 8 and then ran Clubhouse again. Everytime I try to go into selection on this computer I still get the message telling me I'm not running verison 8 and when I follow the link to upgrade it tells me I am running verstion 8. The actual version of the browser on this PC is 8.0.6001.0062085.75983
I also have several of our members reporting similar problems with IE 8 and one with Safari.
Regards
Alan

Hi Dan
Thanks for your reply, the Version of I E8 i am using is 8.0.6001.18813 so everything seems ok with the version of IE 8 that iam running.
you also receive the same message regarding the browser when you google search the site ,it finds the site and also displays the same message
on the Log in Page
Not Sure if this is a problem with my computer ,but when i first used clubhouse i could navigate all areas of the site with no Problems !
Thanks Andy

Andy, Alan,
After further research and experimentation I can only conclude this is an error with certain versions of IE 8, as the syntax Microsoft provide to show comments in certain versions of IE is so simple I can only assume it is not being interpreted correctly. Given that the problem seems to be random ( your computers for example Alan ) backs this up. I have changed the selection page so the pick team facility it is shown no matter what version of IE you are using, and put in a warning.
Alan it should be impossible for this warning to appear in Safari, as the comments can't even be interpreted, they are unique to Internet Explorer.
Cheers,
Dan

Hi All
I am a new member to this website so I hope this is the correct forum.
Yesterday, at work whilst updating information on our circket club, I decided to upgrade the internet explorer 6 to 8, this appeared to work and no problems were seen.
However this morning I switched on my pc and basically XP would not run but came up with an error: HAL.DLL missing or corrupt, I tried various things placed a XP CD disk and tried to do a repair, with the help of the IT team we got around the problem.
I later discovered when I had to reboot the machine that the same problem occurred, well not having the administrators password at hand, not much I can do, therefore I shall now have to wait until Monday for the IT department to come around and fix my machine, and possibly in a the mean time get a telling off for installing IE8, they permit IE7 but no higher so I have now learnt, because there are issues with IE8 and some of the applications various departments use.
Obviously, I wont know the exact cause to the problem until after monday, I use Firefox at home and at present since I have so much to do on my PC I am going to wait until I up grade Firefox.
The Boot.ini file is also corrupt, sounds like a virus but having looked on the internet the appears to be a number of issues with the upgrades, but I will keep people posted.

Nick

Methlick Cricket Club
Just an update to my previous message, my works PC has now been fixed but now back to using IE6, the IT groups policy currently does not allow for IE8 to be installed, due to problems with other software applications we use.

Hi Sud
Open up your explorer
Click on the "Help" tag at the top of the page and select " About internet explorer" this will show the version you are currently running....
